Agirrezabala: “I had no doubts that Valencia CF was the right place to keep growing”
First words from the new Valencia CF goalkeeper
Julen Agirrezabala is now a Valencia CF player and has shared his first thoughts in this interview with VCF Media, where he expressed his excitement about joining the Club.
Joining Valencia CF
“I’m very happy. I would have liked to be here from day one, but I’m grateful to be here now and to feel all the trust that has been shown to me by both the coaching staff and the Club. I’m really looking forward to getting started with my teammates.
When a historic club like Valencia CF show interest in you and want to sign you, it’s hard to say no. The trust from the coach, the technical staff, and all the effort the Club has made to bring me here were all very important factors.
I had no doubts this was the right place to keep growing. It’s an incredible honour to wear the Valencia CF jersey. When you grow up in football, this is one of those historic clubs you always look at with admiration. Being part of the list of Basque goalkeepers who have played here is very rewarding.”
LALIGA experience
“I had already spent several years with Athletic’s first team. This is a step forward in my career as a goalkeeper. I’m still young, I have room for improvement, and I hope to keep growing with my new teammates, the coaching staff, and the Club, and to contribute as much as I can.”
Mestalla
“I’ve played there twice as a visitor. It’s a unique atmosphere and a historic stadium. As soon as you step onto the pitch at Mestalla, you know you’re in for a special experience. I can’t wait for the day I get to do that as a home player.”
2025/26 season
“We’re heading into a very exciting season. The team finished last year in spectacular fashion, with a very strong second half. The goal is to build on that momentum. With the squad and the foundations already in place, I think we can achieve something really special this season.”
Profile
“I’m a goalkeeper who tries to bring security, to keep the team organised at all times, and to help in every area I can.”
